Nocturnal ImagesListen to me playing The Night That's Black Like Me:
2013
Duration: 16 min. Commissioned by Mark Nixon These four pieces are inspired by some of my favourite poets. The first image is a lullaby called Soft Closer of Our Eyes and it's inspiration is John Keats (who happens to share my spooky birthday: 31 October). Next we have The Night That's Black Like Me which paints the mood of a poem by my countryman, Mongane Wally Serote. Then I pay homage to the bard, and in particular, Hamlet's most famous soliloquy, with To Sleep, Perchance to Dream. Finally, the extraordinary and wild work of WB Yeats inspired That Lover of a Night. |
