Ancient Greek pilgrims, eager to learn the secret of their fate, process solemnly towards the temple of Delphi. They hear a high solitary voice: Pythia, the priestess who will act as the medium between god and human. A foreboding is felt, and a sacrificial twitching dance must be performed. As the people anxiously try to please the gods, fate can be heard knocking at the door. Eventually Apollo arrives - the god of wisdom sings deep in the bass, with rumbling accompaniment provided by a very large lyre. The prophecy delivered, a swirling dance ends the work in a triumphant giving of thanks.
