- Three Cities Three Streets for soprano saxophone and guitar
If the saxophone could be epitomized by American jazz or French classicism, the guitar might be equated with the Spanish Baroque or an Argentine tango. When put together they seem to be a couple that can walk the streets of the world and play music suited to their location. So I took three photographs from my own travels to the Czech Republic, Spain, and Italy; and tried to imagine what Duende would play, if they were there.
The lonely side-street of U pujcovny is in Prague's new town, with the Jubilee Synagogue faintly to be seen in the background. The saxophone player might be on the street corner, singing a tranquil Bohemian melody to a gently rocking guitar accompaniment.

In Barcelona, on a vibrant, sunny day in the main thoroughfare Passeig de Gràcia, a light holds back the traffic, and reveals within its arch, Gaudi's “Casa Battló.” Perhaps there is a Catalan dancer somewhere, interpreting the vigorous rhythms of the local musicians, and creating an atmosphere of élan and color.

Seen from the thin alleyway of Via Matteo Sclafani, the cathedral in Palermo rises through a tight maze of human abodes. The two musicians chase each other to the end of this energetic Sicilian tarantella.
